Who are the Taliban?

The Taliban is an Islamic terrorist group that has been ruling Afghanistan for five years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. They have also provided shelter to Al Qaeda and the Taliban’s leader, Osama bin laden. The U.S. quickly removed the Taliban when the war in Afghanistan began in October 2001. The Taliban fled into parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. After that, they continued fighting as an rebellious force. The Taliban have recently been responsible for terrorist attacks. They successfully completed a terrorist attack in June on an airport in Karachi, killing at least 30 people (Smith).
